Install Windows 8 and Problem Faced

Windows 8 Consumer Preview is available to download since last week. I refuse to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my laptop at first, this is because my laptop easy to overheat, therefore I scare my laptop will burn after install this new Windows. Finally I decided to install it to my laptop because I really want to test Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

Firstly, I don't want install Windows 8 on top of my Windows 7, so I go search about dual boot of Windows 7 and Windows 8 Consumer Preview. So far I found this website really helpful on my installation of Windows 8.

When I making partition, I faced a problem about 'available shrinking space' is not enough for Windows 8, but I have more than enough space in my HDD. There are few reasons will occur 'available shrinking space' problem. I guess my HDD didn't defrag properly so only can found less space to shrink. Therefore, I go defrag my HDD using Windows 7 built-in software - Disk Defragmenter, but I give cross(X) to it - it's not really work. I search for solution online again, and I found there are few third party software which is quite good and they are free. You have to find the software which can defrag during booting, and smart enough to consolidated the free space. What I found it work for me is Smart Defrag 2 and PerfectDisk. Time for defrag is a bit long, but worth to wait.

This is what I finish defrag, white color box mean free space.
Better don't leave any free space in between the files. If so, defrag again.
Besides this problem I faced, I accidentally made my disk become dynamic disk. I found that one HDD only  can have maximum 4 partitions. In order to convert the dynamic disk to basic disk, first way is use the built-in software in Windows 7, but you have to back-up all your thing, delete the volume, then only can convert to basic disk. Besides this solution, you also can use third party software to convert dynamic disk to basic disk without back-up your thing (not 100% secure), and the software I use is EASEUS Partition Master.

Here still got a link to teach you how to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

Internet Explorer 10
Few things I tried on Windows 8 Consumer Preview, which is Internet Explorer 10, Messengers, Mail, Maps, Music and so on. Not really know how to give review, IE 10 is better than I expected, everything is nais. :)

p.s Windows 8 Consumer Preview is damn fast!

Trip to Redang Island

Redang Island
I can see Genting Highland from the plane.
This year, I finally went to the island that I wish to go for a long time - Redang Island. Saw some promotion packages through Facebook, and it is during my trimester break, then why not!

Me and my other three university's friends, woke up very early because we have to take a flight to Kuala Terengganu. This is my first time taking flight, and a bit nervous too.

Do you guys remember this, is the house for the movie 'Summer Holiday' - More More Tea Inn

There's really a nice place for vacation, relax from the busy life. There's no 3G or WIFI on our room, what you can do is, turn off your phone and just enjoy the trip. The weather is good than I expected, because we going there during end of the monsoon season, if it rain during the trip, we can't go for scuba diving, build sand castle, and so on. Fortunately, there was a small rain on the first day, then no more rain on the other days during the trip.

What I build is a star/star fish

It is cool to have a waterproof camera during scuba diving. The sea water is so clean that you can see the fish and coral with your naked eyes. I really enjoy to see the fish swim beside me and colorful corals on Redang Island.

There's a lots of memorable moment with friends in Redang Island and I really enjoy the trip. Hopefully during my future trimester break have such a nice trip. What's next? hmm... Universal Studio Singapore?

Learning and Education

Today I done a thing that can proud with me but not my parents. I refused to study "Ethics and Professional Conduct" before my examination, and of course, I did badly on the examination. I kind of sad that I didn't give any effort on this exam, I gave myself an excuse: "This crap is not worth for my brain to memorize it!". And sorry to my parents, I didn't do my best. :(
I proud on me is because I starting to know how to differentiate what is really worth for me and my future.

-Learning and Education.
Well, this really a question for me as a university student. Am I study or learning? Am I understanding or memorizing? Am I do what I should do for the "A" on the exam or what I want to do for my future?

Some people think came out from an university with a certificate especially with high CGPA will lead them to good life. Indeed, company nowadays mostly will depend on your certificate in order to consider hire you. And this lead you go to university and study like mad to get a good result. On the meantime, you will lost what you really want to do on your university life.

Some school/university have the subject called Critical Thinking, Human Development, Ethics and Professional Conduct and etc. Those subjects will have boring lecture because all in the class teach you memorize thing, for instance, "The definition of moral is ... ", "James Moor defines ... " and etc. Are student really want to remember this so that can become a ethical, critical thinking person?

Life should not be restricted to limited understanding of what we are forced to study. It should be about true learning and deep understanding. - Willie P

If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. - Albert Einstein

Officially Trimester Breaking!

Busy life finally can take a long fresh breath.

Finally I completed my Year 1 first trimester in Bachelor of Computer Science. Degree life is such a big challenge for me, don't have any fundamental subjects, starting to walk into coding path, binary cloud, digital world. Learning new theory, new language and new concept. The first thing that I do to face this completely new environment, as a programmer, we should shout "HELLO WORLD"!!!

Actually can said that my schedule is quite full after my final exam. I went for webcampKL yesterday night. It's a event that open for all people who care for website, webapp development. I kind of like the venue or office that held the event, nice city view from the skyscraper. I hope my future working environment can be something like that (hmm, I think I think too much now). Anyway, got people talk about SEO, podcast, Jade, Google analytic and so on. Actually I hope I can get some new idea from them or some demos from they idea, end up with explaining, teaching. Quite a nice experience in there.

Besides that, I just came back from UCSI for the Google DevFest 2011. This Google DevFest is talk about Android development, HTML5, Geo, Google Analytic. Get to know some nice web app through the event. Some HTML5 demos too, too bad is cannot attend Android and Fusion table session, but have a good time in UCSI and Devfest.

The last event is geekycampKL on this Saturday. After that I will go back to my hometown. I planned to done something in this trimester break, wish me luck and don't always feel tired and become a pig when in my hometown.

Life goes on! Leaving footprint everywhere!
